Some of you may be wondering what magical technologies are being used by this web site. Well, at a high level here is a list of technolgies:
Our web site is currently hosted at Web Host for ASP.Net. For now, we are using the (cheapest) Personal Plan. This plan provides the following:
- Hosting of 1 web site
- 10 GB of disk space
- 50 GB of bandwidth
- 1 SQL Express Database
If we can raise the funds, and we have the need, we can definately improve the performance of this web site by graduating to one of the more enhanced plans. We can also introduce more features if called for.
To get our new web site started, I personally paid for the first six months of web hosting services. Hopefully, we can raise some funds and include this in our future budgets.
To provide first-class email newsletters, we are using the email marketing services provided by iContact. Some of you may have heard of a similar service called Constant Contact. I evaluated both services, and decided that iContact meets our needs a little better, and it's a liitle less expensive. For now, we are using a free three month trial. Hopefully, we can raise the funds necessary to continue the use of this great service.
